Weaning For Infants | Lays foundation for your Baby's future

Weaning- The Right Launch to eating

Right Weaning Is Similar To Butterfly Effect | A small change can make great Difference

Is your little one already 6 months old?
Yes this is the time to give your baby “the right launch to eating “i.e. Weaning.
Another transition phase for you when you have to give your baby the tastes of foods other than just breast milk. As recommended, exclusive breastfeeding till the age of 6 months of your baby was the best food for your baby and was completing his all nutritional requirements adequately. Now as he is growing older, demands increase. Your milk may become insufficient for him in completing many of essential nutrient requirements.
This phase is one of the most important phases of the feeding of your baby. This lays the foundation to develop a wide range of tastes to other foods and also defines your child’s eating habits and pattern in future.
Hence you need to be very careful and considerate while starting new foods with him.
Getting started……
·         You need to start giving him some semi solid foods first. Give him simple carbohydrates mixed with your breast milk or formula milk like sooji, rice powder, ground oats etc.
·         Moving on to pureed vegetables and fruits- this is the time to introduce new tastes to him.
·         Then you can move on to dal ka paani, dal with cereal mixes. But in semi solid consistency always.
·         After introducing these foods individually, combinations of potato with cereal, mashed banana with oats etc can be given to him.
·         Give him a combination diet now as he is nearing 8 -9 months old.
·         Now as your baby is near 1 yr old- give him all kinds of fruits and vegetables, other cereals like bread, pastas, mashed chapatti in daal etc can be given.

Points to remember…..
There are certain things which you really need to care and keep in mind:
·         Avoid giving him preserved and processed foods.
·         Always introduce one food at a time.
·         Do not impose any particular food on your child if he is not willing to eat it. If he is been imposed to eat at this time, he will develop an aversion for the particular taste forever.
·         No caffeinated drinks strictly.
·         No honey to be given to the baby.
·         Give less spicy and salty foods to your baby.
·         Always feed him with tasty and innovative recipes of the foods allowed. This will develop his liking for the foods and also he will enjoy his food.

So this a short guide for all the mothers who are weaning or going to wean their babies so your baby can grow healthy……….
